Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Librona ("we", "us") collects, why, and your choices. Librona is a personal book-library web app available at librona.app.

1. Who we are

Librona is operated by the Librona team. For any privacy question or request, contact us at hello@librona.app.

2. What we collect

• Account information — your email address and a password (the password is stored securely, in hashed form, by our authentication provider; we never see it). Optionally, a display name, username, and profile picture if you choose to add them.
• Your library content — the books, shelves, ratings, reviews, reading progress, goals, and notes you add.
• Suggestions — if you submit a correction to the shared catalog, we store the suggestion and your email so an admin can review it.
• Technical data — basic information your browser sends (e.g. device type), and small items saved in your browser's local storage (such as your theme choice and a sign-in token) to make the app work.

We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell or rent your personal information.

3. How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To store and sync your library across your devices.
• To send essential account emails (confirmation, password reset, security codes).
• To review community catalog suggestions and improve the shared book data.

4. Legal bases (for EU/UK users)

We process your data to provide the service you signed up for (contract), to keep accounts secure (legitimate interest), and where required, with your consent. You may withdraw consent or object at any time.

5. Where your data is stored & who processes it

We use trusted providers to run Librona:

• Supabase — database and authentication (servers in the European Union).
• Netlify — website hosting.
• Brevo — sending account emails (when enabled).
• Open Library and Google Books — we query these to fetch book details and covers. Your searches for book metadata are sent to these services to return results.

6. Cookies & local storage

Librona does not use advertising cookies. We use your browser's local storage for essential things like your sign-in session, theme, and view preferences. Clearing your browser storage will sign you out and reset these preferences.

7. How long we keep your data

We keep your account and library data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we remove your associated data from our active systems.

8. Your rights

• Access & export — you can export your full library at any time from within the app.
• Deletion — you can request deletion of your account and data by emailing hello@librona.app (and via the in-app delete option where available).
• Correction — you can edit your own library data anytime.
• EU/UK and California residents have additional rights (access, portability, deletion, objection). Contact us to exercise them.

9. Minors

Librona is an adults-only service and is not intended for anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has given us personal data, contact us and we will remove it.

10. Security

We use reputable providers with encryption in transit, secure password hashing, and access controls (row-level security) so each account can only reach its own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, aim to notify you.
