Librona Back to Librona

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 10, 2026

Librona ("we", "us") runs this personal reading tracker. This page explains, in plain language, what information Librona handles, why, and what you can do about it.

The short version

What we collect

We do not ask for your name, location, contacts, or payment details.

Why we use it

We use your email and password to sign you in, and your library data to store your shelf and show it back to you on any device you sign in from. That is the only purpose. We process this information because it is needed to provide the service you asked for.

Where it is stored

These providers may process data in countries other than the one you live in. They handle it under their own privacy and security terms.

Other services your browser contacts

Librona's typefaces are served from Librona's own website, so no font service is contacted.

What stays on your device

Librona uses your browser's local storage, not tracking cookies. It keeps:

Each account's copies are kept apart, and one account never sees another account's copies. When you sign out on a device, Librona removes your account's copies from that browser. The shelf saved before accounts existed is not removed, because it may belong to someone else who uses that computer; Librona offers it to an account only after you confirm it is yours. If your session ends another way, for example it expires or you choose "Sign out everywhere" on another device, the copies stay so unsaved changes are not lost, and they are removed the next time you sign out on that device. On a shared or public computer, you can also clear this site's data in your browser settings.

Reminder notifications and the chime sounds are created by your browser on your device. Notifications appear only if you allow them, and nothing about them is sent to us.

What we do not do

We only share information with the providers described on this page, as needed to run Librona, or when the law requires it.

Your choices and how to delete your data

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as to object to or restrict how your data is used, or to complain to a data protection authority. Contact us and we will help.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and library for as long as your account exists. When you clear your shelf or we delete your account, the data is removed from the live database. Our providers may keep it in their routine backups and logs for a limited time before it is overwritten.

Children

Librona is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the European Union and the United Kingdom. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Librona is served over HTTPS, passwords are never stored in readable form, and each library is kept private to its owner. No online service can be perfectly secure, so please use a strong password you do not use elsewhere, and keep your own export of your library.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. If a change is significant, we will make it clear in the app before it takes effect.
