Help & FAQ

Everything you might wonder about Librona. Can't find your answer? Email us — we're friendly.

Librona is in Beta

Librona is brand new and growing every week. You might occasionally spot a rough edge or an incorrect book detail — thanks for your patience while we polish things. If something looks off, please tell us at hello@librona.app; every report genuinely helps us improve.

Getting started

What is Librona?

Librona is a warm, simple app for book lovers. Track what you read, catalog every edition you own, rate and review, set reading goals, and discover new books — all in one place.

Is it free?

Yes — Librona is completely free, with no ads and no selling of your data.

Do I need an account?

You can use Librona on one device without an account. Creating a free account lets you back up your library to the cloud and open it on any device.

How do I add books?

Tap Add Book to enter one manually, Import a CSV from Goodreads or Hardcover, scan a barcode, or use Discover to search the world's library and add with one tap.

Membership & community

Who can join?

Anyone 18 or older. Librona is an adults-only (18+) service. We're building it to help readers find genuinely good books and to give new and independent authors a chance to be discovered — not just push bestsellers.

Why is Librona 18+ if there's no adult content?

Good question — and to be clear, there's nothing explicit here: no pornography, no graphic videos, nothing like an adult video site. Librona is just a book tracker. We keep it 18+ purely as a responsible precaution. Books cover every part of real life — romance, crime, history, difficult subjects — and rather than trying to police what's "appropriate," we'd rather let adult readers decide freely for themselves. Keeping the app adults-only lets us respect that freedom while protecting younger readers.

Can I suggest a fix to a book's info?

Yes — open a book and tap Suggest a correction. An admin reviews suggestions before they're applied to the shared catalog.

Discover & book data

How does Discover work?

Discover searches millions of books from open sources (Open Library and Google Books). Search by title, author, or keyword, then add any result straight to your shelves.

Why did a cover or detail come out wrong?

Book data comes from third-party sources and isn't always perfect. Open a book and tap Fetch details to refresh it, or edit it yourself. Members can also suggest a correction for the shared catalog.

Do you filter explicit or harmful content?

Yes. Discover hides erotica/explicit results, and Librona never recommends books whose catalog data signals harmful themes (extremism, religious extremism, cult recruitment, self-harm and similar), religious-doctrine & scripture-interpretation books (across all faiths), or heavier, more serious subjects (politics & government, war and genocide, true crime, and drugs). None of these are surfaced in our suggestions, though they may still appear if you search for them specifically — searching is never blocked. Book data comes from third parties, so this is a safety net rather than a guarantee — if something looks wrong, please report it at hello@librona.app.

Your account & data

Is my data private?

Yes. Your library is yours. Each account can only access its own data, and we don't sell or share your personal information. See our Privacy Policy.

How do I back up or sync?

Sign in and your changes save to the cloud automatically. You can also Export a full backup file anytime from the menu.

I forgot my password.

On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and we'll email you a reset link.

How do I delete my account?

Email us at hello@librona.app to delete your account and data (an in-app option is coming too).

Can I make my account more secure?

Yes — you can set up an authenticator app (2FA) from the Cloud menu for an extra layer of protection.

Importing

How do I import from Goodreads?

On Goodreads, go to My Books → Import/Export → Export Library, download the CSV, then upload it in Librona's Import screen. Your ratings, shelves, and reviews come across.

Does Hardcover work too?

Yes. Goodreads CSV works best, but Hardcover and other CSVs import as well — they may just need a little tidying afterward.

Will importing create duplicates?

No — re-importing updates books you already have instead of duplicating them.
